Dane County – Community Car

In fall of 2003, Madison joined the growing ranks of cities nationwide to benefit from a car sharing program, when Community Car opened for business.

Car sharing is the ‘time share’ of the transportation world. Community Car, Inc. owns the cars and people who join as members have access to them to drive on an hourly or daily basis.  Highly fuel-efficient and hybrid cars, including one truck, are located in four strategic locations around Madison, with more to come.  Members can reserve cars online and can pick up keys at coded key-boxes on location.

Member benefits include:

• Personal savings of up to $500/month on gasoline, insurance, repairs and other car-related expenses;

• Convenience of car-access as needed without full-time ownership;
