SAVE SMART GROWTH PLANNING IN WISCONSIN - OPPOSE AB 303!!
Representatives Mary Williams (R-Medford) and Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) have sponsored legislation that would seriously undermine Wisconsin’s highly successful comprehensive planning law.
Please ask your legislator to OPPOSE AB 303.
This legislation would allow communities to opt out of comprehensive planning. This would mean that community leaders would no longer be required to involve local residents in planning for new development. The old days of “developer’s choice” would be the rule for new development in these communities. Citizens would no longer have the right to shape their community’s future with a legally binding comprehensive plan. This bill is a slap in the face to the 95% of Wisconsin communities that have already worked with their local residents to comply with Wisconsin’s 11 year old comprehensive planning law.
Please contact your legislator and tell them to oppose AB 303 because:
- 95% of Wisconsin’s communities have complied with Wisconsin’s 11 year old comprehensive planning law that is using local input to shape the future of communities across Wisconsin.
- This is a solution in search of a problem – A decade of planning efforts has been embraced by the vast majority of communities in Wisconsin. Comprehensive planning is a tool that allows all residents to be informed and help shape the future for their families.
- Local residents should have a right to participate in the planning for development in their community.
By allowing communities to opt out of comprehensive planning, local input will be lost.
Please stand up for local control and support Wisconsin’s Comprehensive Planning law. Oppose AB 303!
