One of the most contentious issues in rural Wisconsin today involves large livestock facilities. Unfortunately, as with most such matters, emotion often trumps reason, and there’s a lot of emotion flying around on all sides of this issue.
The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has been holding listening sessions throughout the state to review a livestock siting rule that took effect in 2006. Maybe DATCP will propose some revisions to the rule now that it’s been in place for several years. That would seem appropriate.
