What We Do
1000 Friends of Wisconsin is the only statewide organization fighting poorly planned development.
We are working to stop the loss of farmlands by promoting responsible development. Poorly planned development is the largest source of farmland loss in Wisconsin.
We are working to slow the wetlands loss by slowing the expansion of our highways. Highway construction is the largest source of wetlands loss in Wisconsin.
1000 Friends mobilize forces to make better communities that don’t threaten our natural legacy.
We provide local activists with the tools they need to protect their communities.
We provide support to communities who want to implement sustainable policies at the local level.
1000 Friends of Wisconsin is the most successful and effective voice for responsible land use and transportation policies in the state’s history – because we have strong membership support.
Take a look at our six major areas of work:
- Green Downtown
- Green Tier Legacy Communities
- Placemaking
- Smart Growth Comprehensive Planning
- Transportation Options
- Watershed Protection
- Working Lands Initiative
Join 1000 Friends of Wisconsin and help us protect Wisconsin’s natural heritage.
