Steve became Executive Director of 1000 Friends of Wisconsin in October 2003, however he has been involved with the organization since its inception and is one of the founding board members.
Before 2003, Steve was the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Citizens Utility Board, a non-profit organization that represents the interests of residential utility customers. Steve has also served as the Environmental Policy Coordinator for the City of Milwaukee. As Environmental Policy Coordinator he developed, and successfully lobbied for, environmental liability reform legislation (“brownfields legislation”), developed funding plans for transit development, and developed an innovative recycling program called “blue cart”.
While working with State Senator Joe Strohl, Steve developed policy for recycling, transportation, air emissions trading and education, and was a coordinator of media relations.
