Jobs today, economic competitiveness tomorrow–
now is the time to build high-speed rail

My phone hasn’t stopped ringing with calls from governors, legislators, and other leaders seeking a share of the $2.4 billion we made available to the states for high-speed rail last week. And the citizens of those states are also clamoring for rail on Facebook and Twitter and in comments on this blog.
They know what so many Americans know: High-speed rail will create jobs now and lay the foundation for economic development tomorrow.
