Madison Mayor: Edgewater project has momentum, but not a done deal

Once all but dead, the proposed $93 million-plus redevelopment of the Edgewater hotel has quickly won approvals from two key city committees and is moving toward a final City Council vote April 20.
“It does create a sense of momentum, which is real,” said Mayor Dave Cieslewicz, a strong supporter. “But it still would be a mistake to take anything for granted.”
Critics continue to protest the height, size and other aspects of the project and argue it will set a bad precedent for protecting the city’s historic districts.
