Wisconsinites drive more than twice as much per capita as they did in 1970. Our driving habits have transformed our landscape in ways that were unthinkable a generation ago. Our driving has also changed our bodies. As we drive more and walk less, we have gained weight and increased our health risks.
1000 Friends of Wisconsin is committed to helping communities develop walkable communities that promote healthy habits and better places to live. We have launched our Green Tier Legacy Community program to help communities reduce their total reliance on the automobile.
