Gov. Scott Walker has filled his cabinet with a lot of experience and talent.
But his pick to head the state Department of Natural Resources seems unnecessarily provocative.
If Walker wanted to make a statement about his commitment to shaking up the DNR, then appointing outspoken agency critic and former state Sen. Cathy Stepp did the job.
But leading the DNR also requires diplomacy because of all the competing interests at play. That’s something Stepp didn’t show a lot of during her time in the state Senate.
